Manali: Day 3: Naggar Castle and Jana waterfalls

My parents took the same AirIndia flight from Delhi and landed in Kullu airport in the morning.  They took a taxi from the airport, and arrived at the cottage in time for a late breakfast of Gobi parathas.

The architecture in the castle was interesting, and there were very few people there, so we spent some time walking around the complex.  You can book a room to stay in the castle as well.

After the castle, since the weather was clear, we drove to Jana waterfalls.  The drive was extremely rocky since there wasn’t really a paved road.  It took us about an hour to reach the waterfalls.  The falls were really pretty and gave the impression of a secret, hidden waterfall amongst the mountains.

The waterfalls were actually several cascades, and a local guide took us through some rocky trails to the starting point (a 10 min climb up).

After admiring the falls and taking photos, we were ready for a late lunch.  There was a small establishment at the base of the falls that provides local Himachali food.  While there was a vegetarian choice, and the food was somewhat fresh, I found it bland.

We started our 2 hour drive back to Manali, and it was dark by the time we reached our cottage.

Once again, we had a satisfying dinner of local delicacies before heading to bed.
